Who I Am

My name is Alex Gore. I am 18 years old. I live in Gilbert, AZ with my parents, my 4 siblings, and sometimes and exchange student or two. I love sports, music, film, and theater. I am good at a lot of things but I cannot take credit for any of them. God has made me who I am and He gets the credit for everything. Jesus saved me from being nothing. All I want to do now is follow Him. I may lose sight of that sometimes but the Holy Spirit quickly points me back in the right direction. I don’t like religion. I don’t think Jesus did either. In fact He always seemed to have a problem with the religious leaders of His day. I want to help people who can’t help themselves. I think Jesus put a big emphasis on that and we should follow His example. I want to trust Jesus when no one else will, go to places no one else dares go to help people no one else cares about. That’s who I am.

  1. Hi Alex, so nice to see you and your blog.
Bless, Peace, Grace, Joy and Freedom in him to you,
    Faheem

  2. Hi Alex. My wife and I met you and your parents at Moody Church in Chicago a few years ago. It is good to read of your visit to Rwanda.

  3. I’m not religious at all – in fact I’m very human-oriented; a humanist – or even interested in exploring spirituality. I came across your blog while searching out stuff about Rory Stewart. I thought I’d say hi. I look forward to reading more of your blogs.
I like the idea of doing for others, and the quote you have by MLK is great.

  4. Hi, Alex. Of course you don’t know me, but God must have wanted me to know of you because I just happened to stumble across your blog and I must say, I am deeply touched. It isn’t hard to see that you are a very special person. Truly touched by God! I think it is wonderful what you are doing and it fills my heart with so much joy to see others, like myself who are so dedicated to Him. This is what He wants us to do…to praise Him… To lift His name and help bring others closer to Him. So many people in this world today are lost, including those who attend church regularly. You even touched on something that I have always felt very strongly about; Religion. Like you, I have never been in favor of religion. To me, it has always been more about control rather than God. I also agree with what you said about Jesus not being a fan of religion.

I am 28 years old and to be honest, my life thus far has been everything but smooth. It started from me being abused as a child and just never seemed to get any better, but as a result…my faith is concrete strong. I TRULY believe that I am one of those people who God breaks down on purpose and allows to hit rock bottom so that He can shape them into the person that He is calling them to be. It is our adversities that toughen, teach and prepare us for His great plan, which is sooooo much larger than any plan that we could ever conjure up ourselves. From what I get from reading your blog is that you are an extremely strong person…so whatever you may encounter in life, no matter how bad or difficult it may seem, know that God chose you for it because He knows just how strong you are and He believes in you. Always remember, in order to save others, someone has to be crucified…so why not you? Jesus did it for us, didn’t He? God Bless you, Alex. I wish you all the best in life…and thank you so very much for touching my heart the way that you did =]

  5. I found your blog while reading a bit about Rory Stewart. I thought that I would recommend reading his other book-http://www.rorystewartbooks.com/ the prince of the marshes. anyway- it is interesting that you have also been reading irresistible revolution. good book. all three of these books have challenged my thinking in a similar way as my year living in the Philippines.

    May God lead your life.
